S. KINGSTOWN, RI - 01/29/2012 - Noon to 4pm - Glenn Dewell and friends will perform a hunger benefit show at Java Madness. Non-perishable food items to benefit a local food pantry and monetary donations will be accepted to benefit the RI Community Food Bank were accepted. Java Madness (also a '1 of 52' Hunger Network member) often donates a portion of profits for the cause!

"Comedy With A Twist" Event to Benefit Rhode Island Community Food Bank

LINCOLN, RI: "Comedy With A Twist", a stand up comedy show to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, debuts at 7:30pm, Wednesday, February 15th at Catch A Rising Star Comedy Club at Twin River Casino, Lincoln, Rhode Island.

Have fun for a great cause and be treated to an exciting showcase presenting some of Rhode Island's best new and veteran comedians. Headlining the evening is Mike Murray, aka "The Deaf Comic", winner of 2011 RI Comic Throwdown. The stellar line-up features comic legend, Frank O'Donnell with Catch A Rising Star premier attractions John Morris, Jen Munroe and up-and-coming Mike Casey. Host for the evening is Rhode Island's own Mark Shea. Catch A Rising Star Comedy Club is a 200-seat, 18+ venue located at Twin River Casino, a world-class gaming, dining and entertainment destination with over 4,700 slot machines, simulcasting, event center and a host of dining options. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are only $15 (a portion of all ticket sales benefit RICFB).

Host Mark Shea has organized this event as a member of the "1 of 52" Hunger Network. This unique network unites caring individuals state-by-state who use their special talents to take action in 1 of 52 weeks a year. Network founder Steve Maciel reports: "Many of our events center around music and the arts and we're proud to announce this is the first comedic "1 of 52" Event in our 25 year history. Mark sets a great example of how individuals can use any talent they may have to make a major difference. 1 of 52 Hunger Artists perform a series of events in conjunction with Singing Out For Food - An organization that gets in the trenches staging multiple events to make a difference. All summer long, Chuck "Chakulla" Smith will be criss-crossing the country 'Singing Out For Food" in cities all over America. Watch for his No-Hunger Bus that may be coming to your town soon.

 

WAKEFIELD, RI - All That Matters holds food drives every other month as part of their participation in The 1 of 52 Hunger Network. Check their website for details.

 

WARREN, RI - Coffee Depot in Warren, Rhode Island announces their Open Mic Nights hosted by Manny & Cathy Perry every Friday evening. Nonperishable food items and donations are collected to benefit the local food pantry in support of 'Singing Out For Food' with the '1 of 52' Artist Hunger Network. FALL RIVER, MA - Narrows Center for the Arts has been set up as a permanent drop off location for nonperishables to benefit the Citizens for Citizens Food Pantry. The NCFTA is an incredible gallery and performance center dedicated to showcasing 'Art for the Soul'!
