FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Artist Hunger Network National Kickoff
Concert Benefits Rhode Island Community Food Bank
PROVIDENCE RI: The 1 of 52 Artist Hunger Network produced a major benefit
concert to celebrate the national roll-out of its musical program to help
end hunger.
On Sunday June 4th from 5 to Midnight at both Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel and
the Met, eleven musical acts rocked both night clubs to benefit the Rhode
Island Community Food Bank and Rhode Islanders for a Hunger Free State.
The Feinstein Foundation agreed to match all donations brought in this evening
up to $5,000 as part of the Feinstein matching grant program.
The event was co-hosted by WRX radio personality Rudy Cheeks and award winning
cable television show host Don Lincoln. John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown
Band headed and opened the show with a rare early performance at
6 pm. They were followed by a variety of 1 of 52 Hunger Artists including:
(in the Met) Glass Attic, Illustrious Day, The Mocking Birds, Screaming
Under Stars. (In Lupos) Chuck Smith and Chakulla, Ken Lyon and the Outriders
with special guest James Montgomery, The DJ Lauria Band, Steve Smith and
the Nakeds.
A special catered meet and greet reception for the artists and public preceded
the show from 5 to 6 pm. A $25 donation included both reception and show.
This event celebrated the national kickoff of The 1 of 52 Artist Hunger
Network. This a grassroots organization of local and national artists dedicated
to ending hunger. The program is bringing together 52 artists in each state,
each representing one week of the year, who take action annually to help
end hunger. The model program recently reached and surpassed its first goal
of a minimum of 52 hunger artists in Rhode Island and now have 52 artists
across America! They are well on the way to their next goal of 52 artists
in every state.
