Artists Unite to End Hunger, CD Release Event Announced

PORTSMOUTH, RI: National movement of artists and public to help end the fact that 1 in 5 children in America suffer from hunger and poverty. Source: US Census Bureau

Local and national artists are uniting in a unique program to help end hunger. The network, called the 1 of 52 Artist Hunger Network, is organizing a minimum of 52 artists in each state, each artist representing one week of the year, who take action annually to help end hunger. Program coordinator Steve Maciel states that the plan is to create consistent, ongoing support by these artists and their fans to help capitalize existing hunger agencies.

The 1 of 52 Artist Hunger Network has released a CD of all socially conscious songs entitled 'The Time Is Now'. Profits from the CD benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and the Feinstein End Hunger Fund. The Rhode Island Community Food Bank solicits, stores and distributes over 480,000 pounds of food each month to feed over 38,000 people. Nearly half of which are children. The Feinstein End Hunger Fund facilitates dozens of hunger initiatives including the web site helpthehungry.org. Each time this site is visited, philanthropist Alan Shawn Feinstein donates one dollar, up to one million dollars, to hunger agencies.
